Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is the PVCS school schedule the same as the local public schools'?
A: Our academic calendar is similar, but not identical, to the public schools'. We distribute monthly school calendars full of important dates and information. The yearly calendar is also posted in both online and PDF forms here.
Q: Does PVCS participate in the "Common Core" curriculumn standards?
A: No. Being a private school, we are not required to adhere to Common Core standards. We continue to use our tried-and-true traditional curriculumn including instruction in cursive writing and science and history studies beginning in Kindergarten. Reading. Writing. Arithmetic.
Q: Does PVCS have a lunch program?
A: Students bring sack lunches most days. Hot lunches are provided on Fridays from September through May (not usually in March, due to skiing).
Q: What is the dress code?
A: Please see our handbook for details regarding our uniform code, but essentially K-12 students wear an approved polo shirt and pants (uniform) or chapel dress. Pre-school does not have a uniform code.
Q: What about testing?
A: We believe there is value in appropriate, periodic standardized testing. We use it internally to support our educational efforts.
Q: Is PVCS accredited?
A: PVCS is a member of the Association of Schools of Christian Instruction International (ASCII), however, due to the extreme costs involved in accreditation, we are not accredited. Nonetheless we maintain a high standard of academic and personal excellence (experience shows we tend to be academically a year ahead of the public schools). Our credits are fully transferable to the public school system. Our high school diploma is accepted at every college in Wyoming and the University of Wyoming. Furthermore, our graduates have been gladly accepted at colleges and universities across the country and our graduates have been successful in their studies.
Q: What does it cost to attend PVCS?
A: Our current tuition and fee schedule is listed in handbooks available at the school office and online by clicking here.

Full day, Tues. & Thurs. (2-3-yr. olds only):
Mornings, Mon.-Fri.:

Q: Why does my 4-yr. old have to go school five days a week?
A: Due to our early reading and writing curriculum, we have found children who attend five mornings a week are far more successful readers and writers. Heavy work at home and God-given talents can mitigate part-time students' frustration, but not necessarily the parents'. For parents who want to spend more time with their young child, we would recommend half day (morning) attendance and/or volunteering in the classroom.
Q: Is there a dress code?
A: For our pre-school children, there is no formal dress code, however we request the children come dressed in appropriate, clean, modest clothing and shoes that support their dignity and safety during classroom and playground play (e.g. no flip flops, shorts under skirts, etc.).
Elementary School
Q: What Extracurricular activities are available?

Depending on available expertise of our staff we have also offered Drama, Student Newspaper, Speech, Recorder, Music Theory/Band, and Yearbook. If you would like to volunteer your time and expertise to enhance our students' education, please contact the Administrator, Jeanne Boyd.
